10 Feb January 2016 – Photo a Day Project
Welcome to photo a day 2016! Every January I complete a personal project which challenges me to take photos of the kids each day. Then I choose one which best represents our experiences for the day. At the end of the month I have 31 beautiful black and white images that showcase our month. I look for both the mundane and the special things. Often I choose something that seems insignificant now, but I know it’s something I won’t want to forget.
2016 is the second year I’ve gone through this exercise and I love the cumulative value that comes from seeing how our family is growing up over time. From the literal growing of the kids, to the changes in activities and adventures that occupy our time. Last year Sam was only just sitting up, now he’s running around like a cheeky monster chasing his brother. In a blink, Will has gone from being a kindy kid at play, to a school boy in uniform.
Adventures in Melbourne for me with my mum!
Playing doctors, like Uncle Ben.
My hunny!!
Apollo is certain one day his patience will be rewarded.
This was taken to match a photo from last year, where he was laying on his back in the cot.
Will turns five!
First day of school for my baby!
The Finished Project – Photo a Day 2016
We have these photos printed together in a big frame each year. The current year is hung on the wall in our lounge room next to the TV for the whole family to look back on and enjoy. Bruce has moved the previous year to another spot in the room, but I’m not sure where we’re going to put them all over the next couple of decades!!
Do you have beautiful photos that tell your family’s story? Print them and enjoy them! I haven’t tested them myself, but there are companies out there that turn your photos into little flip books for you. Check out Photobox or Chatbooks.
If you’re looking for a family photographer, then I’d love to chat about the memories and moments you’d like to capture. Get in touch here.
